What no therapist will tell you about your anger 🔥

Happy Wednesday my Friend Reader!

Quick reminder of where we are —

What builds your perception of reality? Three signals:

Thought 💭 Breath 🌬️ Attention ✨

And every single one of them is in YOUR hands.

You have real power to rein them all in. 💛

In the last email we started with thought — and the two layers it moves through:

Unconscious — the deep patterns we address through meditation. Conscious — the thoughts you can catch in real time.

Today, we stay on the conscious layer.

And I'm going to tell you something no therapist will.

Ready? 👇

Ever felt angry at life — and then guilty for being angry? 😔

Like you shouldn't feel this way.

That anger might have been a wonderful thing. 🔥

And here is how.

We cannot jump from despair to joy.

Heard about lottery winners? 🎰

And maybe even were jealous of their win?

Think again.

A lot of the lottery winners end up worse off in life than before the win.

Nearly one-third of lottery winners eventually declare bankruptcy, according to the CFP Board of Standards. They're twice as likely to file for bankruptcy as the average American.

Even more telling part is how they feel —

Research shows up to 70% develop "Sudden Wealth Syndrome" — a psychological condition marked by:

Guilt, paranoia, and anxiety about their newfound wealth. Sleep disturbances and overwhelming feelings of responsibility. Identity crisis — not knowing who they are anymore. Depression and sometimes even PTSD from the sudden life changes. Loss of enjoyment in everyday pleasures like eating breakfast or talking with friends.

Their inner world wasn't built to hold what suddenly arrived on the outside.

The leap was too large. The emotional foundation couldn't carry it. And the system reverted back to the familiar.

This is why hopping from despair to joy does not work.

But hopping from despair to anger is actually a win!

The trick here is to keep moving up the emotional scale 1-2 steps up the ladder and not get stuck at one and the same field.

So how do you move up the emotional scale and what is this emotional scale anyway?

Here's how to use conscious thought to climb the scale:

  1. Notice where you are. 💭 "Right now, I feel ___." Name it. No judgment. Awareness is the beginning of movement.
  2. Reach for the next rung — not the top. Ask: "What thought feels even slightly better than the one I'm holding?"

From despair → anger is progress.

From anger → frustration is progress.

From frustration → hope is progress.

One rung. That's all you need.

3. Trust the climb. 🌱 Stay on each rung long enough for it to feel stable or until you know you're ready to move on. Then reach again.

Slow is sustainable.

What's coming next

If you're experiencing an onset of emotional flooding or a panic attack — reasoning your way through will not work.

In those moments, thought is not the tool.

Tomorrow, I'll show you the steps that have worked for others to move through exactly that.

And with it — we move to the next signal:

Breath. 🌬️

A tool that is at your disposal at all times.

And one of the most powerful levers you have for regulating your entire system — when used correctly.

Dear Reader, Today, on International Yoga Day, millions of people across the globe are rolling out their mats — and I want to invite you to something deeper than the poses. Over 2,000 years ago, the sage Patanjali opened the Yoga Sutras with a single truth: Yogah cittavrtti nirodhah. Yoga is the stilling of the changing states of the mind OR Yoga is the complete settlement of the activity of the mind. That's it. That's the whole practice. Physical poses, self-care, ethical decisions, raised...

Hi Reader! ✨ In quantum physics, an electron has two natures. A particle — electron's location at a certain point. And a cloud — a movement within a field. When physicists try to locate where the electron is, they discovered something that we still do not have a full explanation for: The act of looking in a certain direction within a cloud, increases the probability of finding the electron there. The attention of the observer directly affects the observed. This is called the collapse of the...

Good morning Reader! We've been talking about the signals your body reads — and the way those signals shape how you perceive life. Today: breath. 🌬️ Breath is the signal your body reads at the most rudimentary level. You can use it to rev yourself up with energy. Or to calm yourself down when the logical mind has shut off — in a panic attack onset, in emotional flooding, in any moment when your system has shifted into fight or flight. In that state, all energy flows away from your logical,...
